The Versace Spring-Summer 2010 collection was by no means an inventive feature of design, but it definitely left a new comparison to the boudoir-bombshell, Barbarella look. The vision was a collaboration of ethereal princess meets provocateur. It leans more towards ready to wear then something of Haute Couture..yet, it grazes no less enticing. What is usually seen in dark, jewel tone colors in the body, curve-hugging dress, transcended into pastels and bright colors of silk organza chiffon fabric. It's filled with tight tops, short skirts, fitted dresses, and sky high heels, adorned with flashy prints and colors. The concept of this collection is youthful fantasy turned into reality. It was inspired through Tim Burton's Disney version of Alice in Wonderland, coming out this March. The patterns and colors evoke the dreamland state Alice is in. The handbags are to die for, with delicate and intricate designs of brocades and the best hardware found on the market for purses today. The style is heavily reminiscent of Roberto Cavalli's spring 2009 collection of jungle fever meets jewel of the Nile. I like Versace's take on her concept of design: “..the idea of that fantasyland”.
